Aasmaan Bhardwaj’s directorial debut Kuttey starring Arjun Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Tabu among others has taken a very dull start of 5% on its Day 1. The footfalls were expected to get better in the evening with more takers among the evening and night audiences. The film banked on the value of Vishal Bhardwaj’s film Kaminey. It remains to be seen what final Day 1 numbers will be.
Kuttey clashed with Anshuman Jha and Riddhi Dogra starrer Lakadbaggha which did not seem to have had a great buzz either.
ETimes had earlier reported that neither Kuttey nor Lakadbaggha is expected to do wonders at the box office. In fact the opening in certain sectors is extremely poor. The severe winter conditions in the North are not much help either.
South releases like Vijay’s Varisu and Ajith’s Thunivu have a much greater buzz. Both films opened well for Pongal on Wednesday. But Vijay’s film has an edge in terms of content and execution. Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy too are tough competitions.
Speaking to ETimes, Kuttey director Aasmaan Bhardwaj had said, “Papa (Vishal Bhardwaj) always told me to focus on making a good film and nothing else. Numbers are not going to be in your hands so we don’t even think about it. He said, ‘You have seen me. Fridays have always been ruthless to me. So, be prepared for that as well.'”
Kuttey Release Date
Along with the announcement of the film, Vishal Bhardwaj who is serving as the producer along with his wife Rekha Bhardwaj, Luv Rajan, Ankur Garg, also revealed the release date in June but the film got postponed later to Jan 2023.
